Siting

Introduction
Site evaluation covers the entire process from site selection, site survey, site evaluation, site assessment, pre-operation and operational stages. It includes both the external hazards which may challenge the safety of the plant, and the characteristics of the site which influence the radiological impact of the installation on the environment. It is related to the protection of nuclear iinstallations as regards both natural and human induced hazards and design aspects of system, structure and components. Subjects included in the review are: geology, tectonics, geophysics, seismology, seismic hazard assessment, meteorology, flooding including tsunamis, geotechnical engineering, structural engineering mechanical engineering, hydrogeology, oceanography, volcanology dispersion, population distribution, etc.
